Hi RDfaerie, I think I may know the answer as to why you smell bitter chemicals in Halston Classic, when so many others like myself just adore this fragrance. Dries down to earthy, sweet, almost soil-like powder - perhaps some from the orris root note - and spicy sandalwood.
