S5IIX and LUMIX S5II Information Update | Panasonic LUMIX S5IIX and LUMIX S5II Information Update | Panasonic

The sensor, while not new, has been further developed to include phase-detection pixels as part of the hybrid focusing system. This makes the S5II and S5IIX the first Panasonic Lumix cameras to incorporate phase detection focusing. Video Like the original S5, the S5IIX is far from small and fiddly. It’s grip is reasonably chunky and it feels comfortable in the hand. It’s also good to know that the camera body frame is made from die-cast magnesium alloy and it’s sealed against dust and moisture ingress. However, it will be interesting to see how the fan vents cope with rain. At the heart of the S5 II is a new processing engine that is the first product of Panasonic's L² co-development project with Leica. The two companies shared know-how and resources to develop the new processor, which we'd expect to see in future Leica models, too. That's assuming you need Raw video out. And that you don't find USB charging more convenient (which some people may, but it's not fair to assume that everyone needs to pay the extra). The Lumix S5 II is available now, but its full range of video features may not arrive until some time in the future via an update. The Lumix S5 IIX won’t be out until a couple of months later, but it does look as if it will deliver pretty much its full potential straight out of the box. Now answer the question where the S5 II lags years behind the competition, for example the A7IV! Why is this camera a joke - finally give substantive, technical reasons!!! Well I guess as a first pdaf try it will be behind competition (but doesn't mean it will be bad). It is pretty narrow minded what you're saying about people/youtubers pointing that out. It's like "My pana is the holy grail, no one should be allowed to say something bad about it even if it is". Great, we need more of these mind sets to grow in society. Until the burst shooting speed slows. When recording is performed under the test conditions specified by Panasonic. What the company has said is that its algorithms have been re-worked and that the camera assesses camera motion more precisely. We've been impressed with what we've seen from the S5 II so far, in terms of keeping both stills still and video clips smooth. The Boost IS mode, which tries to cancel all movement for a tripod-like video look, is particularly impressive.

Under the test conditions specified by Panasonic based on CIPA standard. When the time to get in the sleep mode is set to 1 sec.We will see soon enough. Right now it’s “they will sell to nobody”, “but the lens selection”, or “but their AF still needs to mature”. I just wonder that nobody speaks about the EVF, which is in my opinion far behind from what I have seen from the competitors.

S5IIX Overview - Digital Photography Review Panasonic Lumix DC-S5IIX Overview - Digital Photography Review

I'm not aware of any sports photographers using Panasonic. Plenty of Canon, Nikon, and Sony sports photographers. A few of them even make enough money to pay for their gear. The S5 II builds on the video capabilities of the S5, despite using a chip with similar ~21ms readout times for its 16:9 footage. You seem to be more 'misinformed' then I am. We all know Canon will drop its R1 and Sony will come up with some new high end cameras as well. The S2H will turn out to be another joke by Panasonic. All that effort for nothing in the end. Panasonic will fail this market. They were too late and they won't be able to turn the tide.

again, the biggest problem...they have a bad rap for bad af for YEARS and took their sweet time to repair that tainted rep they have. 5 yrs late. On the Lumix S5II the USB port can be used either to charge the camera, or to transfer files to your computer, but on the S5IIX it gets a big upgrade. The S5IIX can use the USB-C port to record directly onto portable SSDs - and you'll need to do so if you want to take advantage of the new high-bitrate codecs. The vari-angle hinge also means that the screen can be made clearly visible whether the camera is in portrait or landscape orientation. Maximum continuous shooting rate: Mechanical shutter: 9fps with S-AF, 7fps with C-AF or manual focus, Electronic shutter: 30fps with S-AF or C-AF
