About this deal

I’d already put all these moments in that made sense of what Josie reveals in the last few paragraphs of the book. There are a few aspects that I had to overlook up until this point, behaviors and lack of affirmative action in the characters that I don’t think would play out the way it did in the book in real life, but understandably needed to be done to progress this particular story. Alix's life is nowhere near as shiny as it appears on the surface and Josie is just a fascinating character.

As the story progresses, it's like a veil being pulled from your eyes, but I still couldn't believe what I was reading. These tidbits add another layer to the events, but the snippets don’t show the whole of the situation until the end when the truth is finally revealed. While celebrating her 45th birthday she bumps into Josie who shares the same birthday, and birthplace. When Josie and Walter come for dinner at Alix and Nathan’s, it becomes clear that Josie hasn’t told Walter about the podcast. Thank you to Edelweiss and Atria books for the ARC of None of this is True in exchange for an honest review.BUT after a very strong start, and me loving the short chapters the ending was kind of ambiguous and left me wanting more. Complex characters, shocking twists and several surprises (till the very end) and an ending that leaves you unsettled, made for a riveting read.

Josie approaches Alix with the idea of being a subject of her next podcast feature citing the fact that she is in the process of making big changes in her life. Gloriously dark, so clever and completely addictive - this is Lisa Jewell at the very top of her game. But Josie seems more interested in being part of Alix’s seemingly glamorous life than she is in fixing her own, and when three people end up dead and Alix’s life is turned upside down, the evidence points to Josie—and turns the TV series into a murder mystery.

She issues a quiet “Bye then” as she turns to leave and Alix beams at her and says, “Happy birthday, birthday twin! With this one, it was quite unusual in that I knew what dynamic I wanted to create before I even knew who my characters were going to be, and then I found the characters that fitted into those places. After that my next traditional book will be a marriage scam novel, another one inspired by all the weird documentaries I’ve been watching! Josie is curious to know more about Alix and looks her up on the internet and finds out that Alix is a popular podcaster known for sharing the stories of strong women who have overcome the odds to exact positive change in their lives.

In 2019, “Birthday Twins” Alix Summers and Josie Fair meet for the first time on their forty–fifth birthday in a pub where they have both come to celebrate- Alix with her husband and friends and Josie with her husband. which investigates Josie’s life as she reconciles what happened to her as a teen and seeks a new path. Alix Summer is a popular podcaster who is celebrating her 45th birthday when she meets Josie, also celebrating her 45th birthday.
